WHAT IS  FIBERGLASS?

Fiberglass is a type of fiber reinforced composite material where the reinforcement fiber is specifically made of GLASS FIBER, then it is bonded together with a hardening resin. Fiberglass is a strong lightweight material and is used for many products. Its bulk strength and weight are better than many metals, and it can be more readily molded into complex shapes. Applications of fiberglass include aircraft, boats, automobiles, bath tubs and enclosures, swimming pools, hot tubs, tubs, septic tanks, water tanks, roofing, pipes, cladding , casts, surfboards, and external door skins.

 

IS IT LIKE PLASTIC?

No. Fiberglass is more durable than plastic typically 5x more durable and stronger. Especially when exposed to the sun and the elements. Plastic typically is un-repairable, Fiberglass can be repaired and reinforced over and over again.

 

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

It has a life expectancy of minimum 25 years and up to 40 years

 

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A DOME?

90 Days from the receipt of a deposit.

 

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ASSEMBLE A DOME?

It takes under 4 hours to assemble most of the domes. You do not need any special tools or training to assemble them. All domes are pre-assembled at the factory. With a few people to help (3 or more), some wrenches to tighten the bolts and a ladder.

 

DOES IT COME WITH A FLOOR?

The Domes do not come with a floor. You have to create a simple foundation. In Concrete, Wood, Steel sub-frame  depending on the land that you which to install it, local available materials, climate, etc.. The Dome is then anchored to the foundation.

 

HOW DOES IT GET FASTENED TO THE GROUND?

We apply a sealant caulk, then it is attached to the foundation with the appropriate anchors depending on the surface.

 

IS IT WATERPROOF OR LEAK PROOF?

Yes. The junctions and seals between the parts were designed specifically to keep water out, even in High wind situations.

 

CAN I MOVE THE DOME?

Yes. You can disassemble and move the domes as many times as you like. You only have to re-apply the sealant caulking when you re-install.

 

CAN I INSTALL THE DOME AS THE SECOND FLOOR OF MY EXISTING HOUSE ?

Yes. As long as it is a Concrete Slab we can install the Dome as a 2nd or 3rd floor.

 

DOES IT COME WITH A BATHROOM?

No. We can provide the bathroom package, kitchen package, septic tank, water storage tower, electrical package, even furniture for an additional fee. OR you can purchase a TURN-KEY model and have all the basic options included.

 

HOW HIGH IS THE CEILING?

The ceiling is 10 feet tall. You can also place the dome on a foundation with a wall around the perimeter to increase ceiling height.

 

DOES IT COME WITH WINDOWS AND DOORS?

Yes. The entry level domes come with 2 windows and a standard entry door. You can upgrade by adding more windows, and custom door, etc..

 

IS IT EASY TO BREAK INTO (VANDALISIM)?

No. Fiberglass is a very hard material that requires power tools to cut, or damage. It is far easier to break a concrete block with a hammer, then it is to pierce the fiberglass. It would also make a tremendous amount of noise that is also a deterrent to thieves/vandals everywhere.

 

IS IT HOT IN A TROPICAL CLIMATE?

Not any hotter than a traditional house in the same climate. Residential domes come with a solar vent in the roof that expels all of the hot air during the hottest parts of the day. The fiberglass cools very quickly so proper window placement and other cooling options are very compatible with the design.

 

WHAT DO THE INSIDE WALLS LOOK LIKE?

The inside surface is a grainy surface that is sanded and coated with a special white enamel paint. They all come white standard. You can paint the inside any color with the same methods as any other home. (paint brush/rollers)

 

CAN I ORDER A DIFFERENT COLOR DOME?

Yes we can produce the exterior surface of the dome in literally hundreds of color options. The custom color does add to the cost of the unit.

 

HOW DO I PURCHASE ONE?

You choose the options /package that you want. Once the details are specified in the purchase agreement. You pay a 50% Deposit, Balance upon delivery. The TURNKEY units (Haiti & Panama) have payments broken into 50% Deposit, 25% once foundation is completed, Balance upon final approval.

 

DO YOU EXPORT?

Yes we can export domes from our factory in Haiti in standard 20ft or 40ft shipping containers any where in the world.
